User Instructions

1

Create your identity

On the first screen, click "Generate a new identity". This creates a unique key pair on your device — there's no account to sign up for.

2

Back up your keys

You'll see two keys: a public key (safe to share — it's how people reach you) and a private key (never share this). Copy both somewhere safe. This screen only shows once.

Important: if you lose your private key, there is no way to recover your identity. Save it somewhere durable — a password manager, not just memory.
3

Add a contact

Ask the person you want to talk to for their public key (it starts with npub1...). Paste it into the "Add contact" box in the sidebar, give them a nickname, and click Add.

4

Start chatting

Click their name in your contacts list, type a message, and hit Send. Messages are encrypted before they leave your device.

A few other things worth knowing

  • Language: tap the button in the top-right corner (or in the sidebar once you're signed in) to switch between English and Japanese anytime.
  • Sign out: the button at the bottom of the sidebar signs you out and clears everything on this device — make sure you've backed up your key first.
  • On a phone: tap the "N contacts" button at the top of the sidebar to expand or collapse it.
  • See the Privacy & Security notice and WAN vs LAN pages for more detail on how this app works.
